This comprehensive book presents the essentials of orthodontic treatment using mini-implants: selection, placement, biomechanics, diagnosis, and treatment strategies. The authors detail the biomechanical application of mini-screw-supported alveolar anchorage in precise and effective therapeutic protocols to treat every type of malocclusion, including orthodontic movements that were difficult or even impossible to achieve previously. The authors also discuss the management of mini-implants in multidisciplinary treatment. With clearly defined indications, codified protocols, and reproducible therapeutic efficacy and clinical results, this book details a full-fledged treatment system that uses mini-implants to achieve functional and esthetic outcomes.
Mini-implants are now an indispensable tool in the orthodontic armamentarium that all practitioners can use for greater treatment efficiency. The benefits of mini-implant-driven orthodontics include:
• Fewer extractions
• Greater anterior and posterior vertical control
• Reduced treatment time
• Segmented treatment regimens
Contents
Part I.
Chapter 1. Choosing the Mini-implant
Chapter 2. Mini-Implant Placement Techniques
Chapter 3. The Biomechanics of Mini-Implants
Part II.

Dr Ellouze received his dental degree in Monastir (Tunisia), before completing his orthodontics training at the University of Bordeaux (France), and his lingual orthodontics training at the University René-Descartes of Paris (DUOL). He is an active member of the European College of Orthodontics (CEO), the European Society of Lingual Orthodontics (ESLO), and the World Society of Lingual Orthodontics (WSLO). Dr Ellouze is an Associate Professor of the Department of Orthodontics at the University of Bordeaux, and lectures for the lingual orthodontic program at several universities in Europe. He is a recognized leader in the field of lingual orthodontics, passive self-ligation, and skeletal anchorage systems (TADs). In addition to his private practice, Dr Ellouze frequently lectures internationally, and has published several articles in the european orthodontic literature, focusing mainly on a new treatment approach combining TADs with the most advanced treatment systems.
Dr Darqué is a Clinical Professor of the Department of Orthodontics at the University of Bordeaux (France) and at the Dental Clinic of the Hospital of Bordeaux. He received his dental degree from the University of Bordeaux and completed his orthodontic training at the same university and his lingual orthodontics training at the University René-Descartes of Paris (DUOL). He lectures in most european universities and has worked for many years developing mini-implant treatment modalities. Dr Darque is vice-president of the European College of Orthodontics (CEO). He runs a part-time private practice in Bordeaux.
